Snap not running on Chromebook
-
Hi,
I installed SNAP on a chromebook. The "Go to Snap" gives me a blank screen. "Pair with Codrone" works. I can pair the drone, but cannot open the coding software.
-
Cool! We'll send a few stickers next week!
-
Sure thing: Thanks.

We do have a couple stickers of Cody the CoDrone that we can mail to you, if you'd be interested

By the way...do you guys have any SWAG I can hang up in my classroom?
-
YES!!! That's great to hear
Glad you were able to figure it out!
-
@dr-jeltech IT WORKS NOW!! Once I updated the Chromebook OS, things went swell! Yay! Made my day! I'll still check out Blockly and let you know.
Thanks!

@robolink_wes working on it now...Updating chromebook. Give me 15 min.

@Dr-JelTech Talking with the devs right now about the issue. Can you let me know which Chromebook version you're using? Both the OS version and the hardware itself. And just to be safe, also the Chrome app version you downloaded.
-
Nice! Absolutely!
-
@robolink_wes please continue to see what the deal is with Snap, since all the tutorials are in place for it. I have 4 days to be ready to teach the class.
-
@Dr-JelTech Will do! Sorry about the Snap app being wonky, we'll definitely investigate.
Just a heads up, with Blockly, you can actually use the built-in Bluetooth of the Chromebook, so you won't be needing the included BLE board.
-
@robolink_wes Just got the link! Thanks! Please continue to see what the deal is with Snap though, since all the tutorials are in place for it. I have 4 days to be ready to teach the class.
-
Roger that! Just sent you an e-mail. Please let me know how it's working for you, I'm excited to hear some user feedback.
-
@robolink_wes Blockly sounds great. Go ahead and give me the link.
-
@Dr-JelTech Thanks for the screenshot. I'm going to share this with our dev team to see if they have any idea why it doesn't work on some Chromebooks.
If you're interested, we're currently working to transition over to Blockly, which should be an easier setup process than Snap, and it will align more with our vision of block coding being a transitional step towards full-on text coding. If you'd like to give that a go, it's simply visiting a URL to use the interface. We're going to be doing limited testing with some users, so I can e-mail the URL to you, if you'd like to give it a try.
In the meantime, I'll have our dev team take a look and see if they have any insights.

This is what I see after I click on the the Go to Snap option from the very first screen. (I just took a pic with my cell phone, because the chromebook does not have a built-in shortcut that I know of).

Hello @Dr-JelTech can you post a screenshot of what you are able to see on Snap? We can setup a video call next week if you would like. Let me know if you have any other questions.
